Position Overview:

Platt Richmond is seeking a mid-level commercial real estate associate attorney to join our robust and growing practice. This individual would be responsible for assisting the partners in all facets of commercial real estate development and financing transactions, including interfacing with clients and other deal parties. The ideal candidate will have 3-4 years of solid commercial real estate transaction experience. This individual will have already received training in nearly all of the fundamental facets of such transactions – document drafting and revisions (PSAs, leases, closing documents, etc.), title and survey review and objections, closing coordination, and deal etiquette – and has already taken, or is poised to begin taking, a lead attorney role in deals, with minimal to moderate supervision from a senior attorney.

Essential duties and responsibilities:

  • Assist partners on a broad range of transactions
  • Prepare and/or negotiate letters of intent, purchase and sale agreements, title objection letters, leases, joint venture agreements, and financing documents
  • Conduct legal due diligence, including title and survey, land use/zoning, and environmental
  • Quarterback deal closings, including coordination with deal teams and title companies
  • Manage and delegate appropriate tasks to paralegals
  • Conduct deal status conferences

Qualifications:

  • 3-4 years of relevant experience (however, we are open to considering a strong candidate just outside of this range)
  • Strong attention to detail
  • Intellectual curiosity and genuine interest in projects, rather than a “finish the task and forget about it” approach
  • Excellent communication and grammatical skills, both verbal and written
  • Genuine, authentic personality
  • Team player; takes direction well; receptive to constructive feedback
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Word and Outlook
  • J.D. and Texas Bar Admittance

Perks:

  • Collegial atmosphere of hard-working but fun-loving partners, associates, and staff
  • Candidate will be a team member in a coveted section of the firm whose partners consistently receive top marks in employee feedback
  • True work-life balance; 1700 billable hour requirement
  • Dedicated paralegals and support staff
  • Support and mentoring for business development initiatives
  • Origination credit on matters brought to the firm by the associate
  • Straightforward partner track
  • Excellent benefits and 401(k)
